I read through all the first 3 of these, the gist is that this guy starts off by saying "I've discovered something important! Stay with me on this!", and then goes through 40 or 50 pages of mental gymnastics, some of which connect and are believable, some of which are reeeeaaally stretching for a connection and don't quite make it. Then he says "oops, out of time in this volume, make sure to buy the next one to see what's next!" Then repeat on the next volume.I stayed with it through a lot of the stretches, cuz I wanted to see what they were building up to, what they were meant to support, and I wanted to see if they did actually support it, or not.Doesn't seem like he's actually going anywhere with it. He's actually said a few times "stay with me, not sure where I'm going with this." The vibe I get is that he's just sort of improvising, playing around with vaguely new-age topics, hoping we like the improv enough to keep buying for a couple more volumes before we get bored.Which, more power to him, I guess. A lot of new age writing is really vague and shifty and not actually saying much; if this guy can play on that and make a couple grand on Gnostic jazz before we figure out he doesn't have a finale, then good for him. I won't be buying any more of these though. Most of his arguments don't actually connect, and aren't actually able to support anything, so I'm out.

I thought it was interesting to see the various fairytales being opened up like this. I didn’t even know what steganography meant before this. So I found this book both easy to read and very informative. The sort of inner secrets being revealed from them was a real trip.I don’t know what the author Timothy’s background is but he seems to have more than just an idea working with hidden data, because he has masterfully translated that experience into a book that even amateurs like me about covert communication can understand. It was fun revisiting the fictional world of the Grimm brothers and reading their stories again. It was interesting to read them again through a different lens. A lot of details about the technique used have been mentioned and it got me interested in the subject.

While I understand the reason the author went into the encryption methods; I felt he went too far with the fairy tales and explanations and too much detail in explaining the systems. As an avid student of the Gospel of Thomas and Gnostic books; I was/am really more interested in understanding his interpretations of the Thomasine text and the Gnostic Book of John with relation to the Gospels. I will try the next volume and see if he cuts to the chase. Hopeful

Reading this book, I felt like I was a horse led with blinders. Ideas were too forced and connections were weak. The Grimm fairy tales were indeed weird and I expected to be fascinated unraveling them. But connecting it to an oriental occult system? And then connecting 2 authors because they were situated a few kilometers away? Nah...

Jordan Banks is the new kid at one of the best private schools in the state that offers a wealth of academic and extra-curricular opportunities and experiences for its students and while its prestige is praiseworthy, it is woefully lacking in diversity. Jordan is one of a small number of students of color at the school but just like every other twelve-year-old middle school student has to navigate making new friends, avoiding awkward crushes, getting good grades, and making time to do what he loves most-drawing cartoons. His art is embedded throughout the text and gives the reader an inside look at Jordan’s thoughts on well, just about everything. His drawings are informative, oftentimes laugh-out-loud hilarious, and honest.There’s a gaping void as it concerns the representation of African American youths in books in general across all genres but especially in graphic novels. Jerry Craft expertly enters into this space and gifts us with New Kid. It is a relevant read. A cool, down-to-earth middle school story for everyone. I want to hug this book! I want to read it over and over and then wrap it up and give a copy to every child I know. No doubt that Jerry Craft upholds his mission to “write the books he wishes he had when he was a kid” because this is the sort of book I wish I’d had as a child. No offense to The Baby-Sitters Club series from back in my day, but what about books with characters that look like me and share in my experiences? I would have loved a book like this!I would recommend this book for intermediate elementary students (4th-5th grade), middle school and high school too. I honestly think it will have a wide range of interest much like books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Amulet, Sisters, and Drama that are read from elementary school straight through high school.

Usually I am not a big fan of comic books/graphic novels but since my son's school invited the author, just decided to get a copy for my son. I am glad I did. Story was well plotted very realistically and emotionally. No extream feelings or pampering either about the school system. Main characters are very reasonable to face the challenges but not so much super-heroic. Very well balanced. Recommend this book to any one from 4th -7th and I am pretty sure even older kids will enjoy. -very strict mom of 12 and 9 y/o.

The art work, the microaggressions, the freezing sports moments, the "Mean Streets of Uptown" book truth- this story contains so much truth and heart and will stick with me for awhile. This is a must have for middle school shelves!

Jerry Craft visited my daughter’s school a few months before this book was released. My daughter couldn’t wait for it to be released, asking almost daily how much longer until we would get it.We preordered it and got it right when it came out.It didn’t disappoint. My daughter loved the book and now has a list for her friends waiting to borrow it.

I must have misunderstood the book description; this 'book' is filled with comic book style pictures with some text, but not a lot.This book might be suitable for person who isn't an adequate reader of text novels.
