I ordered this book for my father-in-law who has lived in Portland most of his life. When I looked through it I almost kept it for myself! Great pictures, wonderful content, perfect gift. I like this book because the pictures aren’t outdated. My father-in-law is a hobby photographer and I didn’t want to get him some cheesy photo book.
I got this as a gift for my husband and he loves it. I love looking at it as well! The pictures are fantastic, the book is full of information we knew and more we didn’t. Perfect gift for a local or transplant.
Excellent format of then and now pictures rather than a book of just old pictures. Very good choice of pictures. the book graphically demonstrates how Portland has changed over the years

Brought for my Brother but decided to keep for myself
My mom was born and grew up there. She finally introduced it to me about 10 yrs ago.Caitlin Gable school isn't in here. She lived across the street. (It started with a "W" like Willet or something) That was where she went until UCLA and WWII called her south...where she met my dad after the war, etc. They married and remained here in Tucson until their deaths 7-10 yrs ago.But I always hope I'll find someone who recalls Elizabeth, Constance &/or Harry EDWARD (no S). Granddad had a lumber mill up there. He and my grandmother moved to LA in the 60's then on south until finally living in La Jolla.I wanted some small connection with her. This is a fun, informative, picture plus, thin book. I could imagine Mom among the places and people in the photos. It's well done. I wish I'd had it when my mom was still here!
the pictures are wonderful and it gives great historical information. I gave it as a gift to my daughter who lives in Portland and knows most of the places that are referenced.
