No chapter section exercises. You're cut and pasting everything, which doesn't seem a very effective teaching methodology to me. Alternatively, what one could do is commit the configuration with both Eclipse and IntelliJ setup's and break points. Then you guide the customer through a trace and discuss points of interest like a tour guide. That would be an improvement but I would much rather have the author guiding ME to write code myself so that I encounter my own problems and get to figure them out on my own. Agree that the finished code should be available for students who get stuck, however.One should assume that the student is a professional operating under pressure. That means they will do the bare minimum necessary to acquire MVP (Minimum Viable Product) . If you don't provide the usual cue's (section and chapter exercises) that it's time to shift from the book to the code, they might get 2, 3, or 4 chapters in and realize they aren't learning anything without grasping exactly why. It's because the lecture / read / exercise methodology is trained by public education and for someone with an extended education, they've internalized this to the point where they don't think about it any more. In a nutshell, software has standards. So does education. They are useful and exist for reasons. What the author might consider is an approach that focuses on getting the student to professional viability and then following up with a companion problem / solution guide for common things new Angular developers experience. App.Chapter 2 covers everything a developer needs to build their first basic App "7 Minute Workout", setting up, code organizing, module, bootstrapping, etc. This App makes all the covered concepts interesting and relevant.Chapter 3 introduces and prepares you for the world of SPA and Routing, this is a precursor to building the next interesting App "Personal Trainer" covered in Chapter 4. This App increases the complexity leveraging all the concepts.Most application needs integration with APIs and this is covered in detail in Chapter 5. There is great amount of wisdom in Chapter 6 learning about Angular Directives, I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter.Testing is close to my heart, and automation is a key factor for agility and innovation (fear of unknown is great demotivator to any change, lack of automation creates this fear) . Chapter 7 lays great emphasis on testing, make sure to read "The need for automation" section intently.Chapter 8 wraps up this great book with practical scenarios covering performance, authentication & authorization and migrating old AngularJS app.Both authors have done great work on making this book interesting, engaging and sharing their experiences in this book.

I am a photography nut and took a darkroom class at my local university. Got this book used and found some good things in it but most of it is way over my head. If you just want to do some basics, even some intermediate stuff like Stand Development, I would say stick with YouTube and save some money even if you can get it for the cheap used price.

Wonderful old school book very valuable information.

I just started a class on black and white film developing/darkroom, and I wanted a book that I could read to help put together what I was learning in the class (there is no text for this class).this book has all details, and is a good companion for the class, I found it to be well done and well written.

Haven't done darkroom work since the 70's.Decided to resume printing photos and thoughtit a good idea to get a reference book.I can't remember everything!Glad to have it. Easily searchable, comprehensive andnot too wordy. A good reference book.

This is the book for someone serious about setting up a darkroom and starting to develop and print either B&W or color film, negative or transparency. In addition, a wide range of printing techniques and specialty methods are discussed and described, as well. Lots of good refresher information on techniques and methods for the experienced print-maker, too.

Well worth the money

I am a first time know anything about negatives or what is involved and this was a great start. I gave it a 4 star because it is a great beginning and really wasn't sure if it needed a 5 star since I am a novice. I recommend the book to anyone that is a beginner.

Living in New England, we're fortunate to have our choice of "sugar shacks" to purchase maple syrup, locally tapped. We have made three or four recipes from this book since we received it and they haven't disappointed! We made the Maple-Walnut Oat Muffins (twice!). These were the best, homemade muffins ever! They were not overly sweet, barely tasting the maple syrup, but it added just enough sweetness. We are also gluten free, and this recipe was easily adapted. The combination it called for was ground oats (you can purchase oat flour instead, works the same way), as well as whole wheat and all purpose white flour. The first time, I didn't have oat flour (or whole oats to grind). I subbed out oat bran and used a gluten free all purpose flour in place of the whole wheat/white. Came out super! Second time, I used the oat flour and they came out equally as well, but a bit more dense. I actually think we prefere the oat bran. They were amazing for breakfast, either warmed a bit in the microwave or grilled lightly. Adding a bit of maple syrup on top (or maple cream ~ yum!) makes them a real treat! They freeze really well too.We made the Green Bean Salad (served room temp or cold) ~ sooo good for lunch or served as a side with any type of meat. I can't wait to try this again with green beans from my garden!We also made the Maple Baked Beans. Way better than any canned baked beans! We did cheat, and use two cans of Aduki (can use any type of bean you like) instead of the dried navy/pea beans they called for, only because I forgot to buy them:( ~ that being said, adjust the baking time accordingly (you don't need to bake canned beans for three hours). I already bought the dried beans for next time.The last thing we tried was Maple-Cream Cheese Spread ~ no explanation needed:) ~ Wow. Just wow:)

I don't like giving my grandchildren white sugar, so this recipe is PERFECT for giving them a sweet cookie without spiking blood sugar. Can't wait to try the other recipes. Update: I have found lots of wonderful recipes that taste fantastic. Can't speak highly enough about this book.

I bought this as a gift; I have a copy. I love all of Haedrick's cookbooks. While some of the recipes are a wee bit complicated or call for an ingredient not common in your pantry, I have to admit that if you follow the instructions, they usually turn out well. Living in Vermont, it's good to have a use for all that maple syrup flowing about.

Ken does a great job putting recipes together, this is the second cookbook I have of his using Maple Syrup.

Purchased as a gift for someone in another country where they don't have the luxury of going out and tapping their own tree. Very well received.

Bought this book about a month ago after moving to Nashville. I'm a pro drummer who has lived in NYC (6 years) and Las Vegas (8 years). I went to music school and got a performance degree. I can read music as well as anybody but nobody has ever talked to me about this system.The book is laid out in chapters that get more in depth with the notation and a corresponding song with each one as you go. Included is a CD which contains mp3's of examples and songs that Jim wrote and recorded (and sang on, wow he sounds good!!) and versions of the song sans drums, bass, guitar, and keys. So you can try your hand at recording your own version of the song while using the included chart much like you would get on a real session.There are also ear training exercises designed to help you write your own charts using the NNS. I haven't had to think like this since I was in college! Very cool!I found the book to be incredibly helpful in organizing a chart that not only gives me a complete road map of the song, but gives me chordal information that helps me keep my place in the music and decide how to orchestrate the music on the drum set...All the while leaving out just enough info that I'm relying on my ear to listen to the band and react accordingly in the moment.A great tool to keep in shed!! Very useful if you're living in Nashville but could also be useful outside of town as a musical shorthand of writing charts.

This a great book for learning about the number system - and for learning about music in general. Since the number system is based on diatonic chord theory, you can't help but walk away knowing more overall. It's clear, well thought out, and presented simply. You can tackle two or three concepts a day, go back and review a bit, then move ahead.So many books about theory are overly academic or give students a feeling of 'information overload.' This book is just the opposite. It gives me a feeling of, 'Cool, what's next?!!'Even more interesting: as a bass player, I had a few experiences of, 'Oh, THAT'S what that's called!' when the author put a NAME to some of the techniques I've used unconsciously for years. I feel like now, I can make more CONSCIOUS musical decisions, rather than relying on luck.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, for those who want to learn the number system, and those who want to learn more about music in general.

If you want to learn the Nashville Number System, this is the quickest, clearest publication I've come across to do so. Couple days - may be 8 hours total dedication to it, and I had a fair grasp on the concepts. If I wanted to really learn it well, I know I could if I put in more time, using this publication.

If you are a musician in a band this book will change your life!! and it's not hard....the book is laid out in a way that a 6th grader can follow but detailed enough that a seasoned musician can learn a lot from it as well. Every concept is backed up with a musical example and each chapter concludes with a fully produced play along track minus YOUR instrument. The ability to write charts this efficient and quickly can mean the difference between getting a gig or not, but the best reason to get this book is once you start thinking about music this way you instantly become a better musician.

I learned in no time how to chart out new tunes in minutes in a way that is very easy, easy to read and follow and extremely useful.This will help me prepare for short notice gigs and learn 50 song set lists faster than most of my competior drummers in town. Very disappointed by this edition. I bought this as a gift expecting it to be the larger earlier edition. This one is the same size as a hardback novel and half the text is missing compared to the original edition which means the impact of the original edition is totally lost. The information about the different editions should be clearer especially about the size. I was going to send it back but the return costs are half the cost of the purchase price.I'll be doing my research more thoroughly next time, so Amazon and Taschen thanks for nothing...you got me.I must say though, if you are after Moonfire then this is an epic publication and you won't be disappointed, just make sure you are buying the proper one .

My personal disdain for the author aside and those like him, stil can't take away the fact this is a poorly done book,poorly written and the space program deserves better than an unsavory and unpatrotic character who masqueraded as an intellectual and author. The pictures are mediocre at best and the many subsequent editions dilute whatever little value the book had.

An absolutely wonderful book. But, let me be more specific.First, the actual text of the book is three stars at best. Norman Mailer does little to hide his jealousy of the astronauts, and repeatedly degrades NASA and its agents for their logical attitude and technical communication style. As if, for some reason, the absence of communicated emotion was proof that Norman Mailer (or some other artist) should have been included on the flight manifest. This strange tone polluted an otherwise informative snapshot of what it was like to live in July of 1969.Second, this edition has something like 300 stunning images from NASA and other sources. The pages are nice and glossy, and the images are in full Technicolor. The photos, images descriptions and other annotations make this a five star book despite Mr. Mailer's somewhat pouty text.Overall this should be in every space/science/space program enthusiasts library.

Mailer's words are worth reading on their own, but the quantity and quality of the pictures throughout this book make it a must-have for any Apollo enthusiast.

This is an absolutely beautiful book. It is a well made, heavyweight book. The pictures are stunning. If you are a fan of the Apollo space program, you will love this book.

I have mixed feelings about this two-book series.Pros: nice big books (8 1/2” x 11”); helpful descriptions of topography and geography; listings of sites and restaurants to visit on your own.Cons: spellcheck errors (no proofreader?); content is repeated in the first 24 pp of each book; pictures are all black & white; maps are barely decipherable.Despite the author’s claim, “I have included all of the ports of call visited by both the major cruise lines and the upmarket and adventure cruise companies,” three of the eight ports we will visit with Holland America in 2019 are not included (Eidfjord, Molde, and Skjolden).All of the text is in a bold font, which is distracting. I question why the author decided to issue this self-published content in two volumes. If the duplicate content was eliminated, the font was not in a bold face, and a few black & white snapshots were deleted (there are pages and pages of them), this would be an impressive single-volume compendium. But stretching the content into two volumes seems a bit like a money grab.
